About
Claire Goff – BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy, MCSP, APPI

I graduated in Physiotherapy from Keele University in 1996 and subsequently worked in the NHS where I trained in a variety of disciplines within the physiotherapy profession. In 1998 I began to specialise in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions working solely within the outpatient department. This led to a post in the private health sector in 1999 where I worked until 2020.. I had a special interest in injuries caused by movement disorders (altered biomechanics) and muscle imbalance. With many post graduate qualifications including those in acupuncture and muscle imbalance, I treated a wide variety of conditions from acute sports injuries to ante and postnatal back pain.

For several years whilst continuing my employment in the private sector I worked with a colleague providing pilates classes and domiciliary physiotherapy in South Cheshire – previously working as ‘Cheshire Pilates & Physio’. I then opened my own treatment room in 2012, at this point ‘ReBalance Physiotherapy’ was born. I then ran my own practice and providing physiotherapy and pilates until the start of 2020 when the time came to leave the physiotherapy profession and concentrate on the pilates side of the business. This is the point that ReBalance Physiotherapy evolved into Restore and ReBalance Pilates.

I have undertaken my Pilates instructor training with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) of which I have been a certified instructor since 2009. They offer a research based form of Pilates which can provide a safe and effective form of exercise that is suitable for most people. My post qualification courses with them include performance pilates for cyclists, pilates for skiers, horse riders, upper limb rehabilitation and ante/post natal pilates. I also feel well placed to provide rehabilitation post injury or surgery with pilates as I am able use my physiotherapy background as well as my extensive knowledge of pilates.

As well as practicing pilates regularly I like to keep fit with running and exercise classes. Having experienced the buzz of participating sports I understand the need to give individuals an alternative training plan when injured and actively rehabilitate them.
